Adrian Griffin Gets Honest on Milwaukee Bucks Effort Vs. Chicago Bulls: ‘We Were Flat’

The Milwaukee Bucks escaped with a win on Monday night against a surprisingly valiant effort produced by a shorthanded Chicago Bulls side. The Bucks held the lead for virtually the entire game, only for Chicago to rally back and force overtime.

Thanks to their strong play in clutch time, however, Milwaukee ultimately prevailed, 133-129.

After the hard-fought battle, Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin got brutally honest about his assessment of his team’s overall effort on the evening. According to the rookie shot-caller, he believed that his team panicked a bit, especially after the halftime break:

“I thought we were kind of flat,” Griffin said of his team’s effort in the third quarter, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “And I thought we just stopped executing. We went more one-on-one, kind of rushed offense. When we execute, we get in our right spots and our spacing is correct, good things happen. But, again, when you play a team like that, you know, defensively they’re going to get into us, they’re gonna send multiple bodies, we gotta continue to execute, find the open man, make the right play.”

To be fair, Griffin did commend his team’s resilience and their ability to fight it out until the very end. Ultimately, it was the Bucks who came home with a W, but it is also clear that Coach Griff isn’t completely pleased with what he saw from his side on the evening.

The Bucks will want to and will have to do better on Wednesday as they face off against Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers just days after this same team ousted them in the semifinal of the NBA In-Season Tournament.
