It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

Wear some comfortable clothing and join Clean Wisconsin for a gardening day on Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Milwaukee Public Library Atkinson Branch, 1960 W. Faith leaders will be given the chance to come together with the Milwaukee Police Department to hold a conversation around community-building in Milwaukee. The event, hosted by Safe & Sound, takes place Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the City of Light Church, 6725 W. Burleigh St. Registration is required. More information here.  

Come to a community health and wellness fair and a blood drive on Saturday, Sept. 16 inside the Running Rebels gym at 225 W. Capitol Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in support of Sickle Cell Awareness Month. Resources and workshops will be available. Register here. More information here.

Chef Kisses presents a youth expo for young business owners who are 13 years old or younger. The event takes place Saturday, Sept. 16 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 2677 N. 40th St. More information here.  

On Saturday, Sept. 16, UMOS will host a Mexican Independence Day parade and festival. The parade begins at South 20th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue at 10 a.m.,  and the festival takes place from noon to 8 p.m. at UMOS, 2701 S. Chase St.  More information here.
