Michigan football is still working diligently on the recruiting trail, hosting camps this week before yet another big official visit weekend.
Last weekend saw a duo of five-stars make their way to campus, as well as one of the top defensive backs in the state of Ohio, while this week will see another top defensive back from the Buckeye state make his way to Ann Arbor.
Now that some prospects have managed to see everything that Michigan has to offer, there appears to be movement in their recruitments.
The likely running back No. 2
While 2024 Longview (Tx.) four-star running back Taylor Tatum, one of the top tailbacks in the country, had been trending to the maize and blue, with USC upping the ante in its courtship of the elite runner, the Wolverines have seemingly pursued Las Vegas (Nv.) Bishop Gorman three-star RB Micah Ka’apana with more vigor.
Ka’apana was on campus this past weekend and was getting buzz that he could end up in Ann Arbor sooner than later.
Well, there are more indicating that he could wear a winged helmet, with The Michigan Insider’s Steve Lorenz and Sam Webb both putting in 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions on Thursday for Ka’apana to the Wolverines.
He now has three predictions all indicating Michigan will be the choice, with 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong rounding out the prognostications.
Is a familiar pass catcher destined to come to Ann Arbor?
Michigan is already trending for Chicago-based wide receiver I’Marion Stewart (who will make his announcement on Friday), and has legacy Channing Goodwin — teammate of QB commit Jadyn Davis at Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day — pledged. But Davis and Goodwin have a teammate that could also wear a winged helmet at the next level.
Jordan Shipp, a four-star rated No. 15 overall per the 247Sports Composite, visited Ann Arbor on June 2, but still had some key visits on the horizon — particularly in-state North Carolina last weekend. However,
Steve Lorenz put in a prediction for Shipp to Michigan on Wednesday, while Brice Marich added to the chorus on Thursday.
Sam Webb put in a prediction on June 6.
Another Ohio native stolen from the Buckeyes?
After visiting Ann Arbor this past weekend, Cincinnati native Elias Rudolph — who now plays at Deerfield Beach (Fla.) — the same high school as Denard Robinson — started to look less and less like a lock to Ohio State.
So much so that the predictions have come pouring in for him to end up in Ann Arbor rather than Columbus.
Though Rudolph still has a prediction from Bucknuts’ Bill Kurelic to end up in scarlet and gray, he now has three 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions to one that he’ll end up wearing maize and blue instead, as Steve Lorenz placed his bet on Michigan on Wednesday.
