President Joe Biden expands his campaign team in Michigan
Lansing — President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign announced Tuesday that it’s hired a campaign manager, communications director and press secretary in the battleground state of Michigan.
News of the hires came less than a week after Biden, a Democrat who’s asking voters this fall to grant him a second term in the White House, spent a day in Michigan on Feb. 1.
Mike Frosolone, a Michigan native who recently served as regional political director at the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, will be Biden’s campaign manager in the state, according to the announcement.
In addition, Alyssa Bradley, who previously worked for the Michigan Democratic Party, will be Biden’s Michigan communications director, and Tom Grandon, who worked for U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee, D-Flint Township, will be Biden’s Michigan press secretary.
They join Ed Duggan, state director, and Eddie McDonald, senior adviser, on Biden’s campaign staff in Michigan. Ed Duggan is the son of Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan.
“Michigan has been at the center of the fight for Americans’ freedoms — rallying behind President Biden’s agenda and defending our democracy, standing up for unions and safeguarding women’s reproductive rights,” Ed Duggan said on Tuesday. “This strong, battle-tested Michigan team will build upon years of historic investment to mobilize our winning coalition and reelect President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.”
Biden won Michigan in 2020 over Republican Donald Trump by 3 percentage points, 51%-48%, or 154,000 votes. But early polls have shown Trump, the likely GOP nominee, with a lead over Biden in Michigan to start 2024.
The November election is about nine months away.
In addition to working for the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, Frosolone was executive director of the Iowa Democratic Party during the 2020 election and led U.S. Sen. Cory Booker’s Iowa caucus presidential campaign in 2019.
Frosolone attended Western Michigan University.
