LELAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Lake Leelanau girl has died after she was struck by a automotive whereas strolling her canine on Thursday in Leelanau County.
In accordance with Michigan State Police, 43-year-old Evelyn Ella Kellogg of Lake Leelanau was hit and killed whereas strolling her canine on South Lake Shore Drive in Leland Township on Thursday.
Michigan State Police troopers responded to a report of a deadly crash involving a pedestrian at roughly 7:22 p.m.
Preliminary investigation signifies the 43-year-old was strolling her canine northbound on the southbound shoulder of the street when she was hit by a northbound touring car.
The automotive was pushed by Christen Kelly Landry, 52, of Lake Leelanau.
Officers say each Kellogg and her canine died on the scene.
The 52-year-old driver had consumed alcohol previous to the crash, based on police, and was arrested and brought to the Leelanau County Jail.
