NAACP: Michigan attorney general must investigate Lyoya case
(AP) – A civil rights group is demanding that the Michigan lawyer common examine the police taking pictures of Patrick Lyoya, warning the longstanding relationship between the county prosecutor’s workplace and Grand Rapids police may result in bias.
The president of the Better Grand Rapids NAACP says he personally requested Chris Becker to recuse himself however the Kent County prosecutor declined.
Cle Jackson says there are too many conflicts of curiosity. However Becker says he received’t quit the case.
Lyoya, a 26-year-old Black man, was shot at the back of the top by a white Grand Rapids officer after an April 4 visitors cease. State police are investigating the taking pictures.
