The Michigan State women’s basketball team will be the No. 6 seed for this week’s Big Ten tournament at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

MSU (21=8, 11-7) ended the regular season tied for fifth in the Big Ten standings with rival Michigan and Illinois but earned the No. 6 seed based on tiebreakers.

The Spartans, who closed the regular season with a home win over Minnesota on Saturday, are slated to open the Big Ten tournament at approximately 9 p.m. Thursday evening against either No. 11 seed Iowa or No. 14 seed Wisconsin. Iowa finished a game behind the Spartans in the Big Ten standings and in a four-way tie for eighth with Indiana, Nebraska and Oregon. Wisconsin was 14th in the standings.

With a win, MSU could face No. 3 seed Ohio State in a quarterfinal.
