Michigan State Police host public hiring event
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The Michigan State Police is looking for more recruits to join its ranks.
On Thursday, the Eighth District Headquarters in Marquette hosted a hiring event.
Those interested in a career in law enforcement had to qualify through a fitness test and written exam.
Potential recruits had to perform push-ups, sit-ups and a half-mile shuttle run. The written exam consisted of reading and writing comprehension and video scenarios.
Michigan State Police Community Service Trooper Thomas Kinnunen says these public hiring events help bring in candidates.
“How else are we going to get people interested other than having an open door?” Kinnunen said. “If you have any questions, come down and talk to us today or else find us on the internet, reach out to your local state police post, let’s have a conversation.”
