Michigan State Police arrest 70-year-old man for human trafficking, prostitution in Southgate home

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Michael Richard Navoy, 70, of Allen Park, in connection with human trafficking and prostitution of women.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) detectives were assisting in a human trafficking investigation on Oct. 1 in Maumee, Ohio, involving Navoy.

Allegedly, the 70-year-old was involved in human trafficking and prostitution, operating out of a Southgate home that he owned.

Officials said the investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Navoy was charged with:

  • Count 1 – Accepting earnings of a prostitute (Maximum penalty 20 years in prison)

  • Count 2 – Human trafficking – Forced labor resulting in commercial sexual activity (Maximum penalty 15 years in prison)

  • Count 3 – Human trafficking – Forced labor (Maximum penalty in prison 10 years)

  • Count 4 – Using a computer to commit the crime of forced labor resulting in commercial sexual activity (Maximum penalty 10-20 years in prison)

  • Count 5 – Keeping a house of prostitution (Maximum penalty of five years in prison)

MSP arrested Navoy on Dec. 6. 2024.

The Wayne County Prosecutors Office has been informed that the arraignment would not be held Friday in 28th District Court.
