Mass Camaro theft leads to multi-agency chase through Michigan
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – 9 individuals are in custody following a mass Camaro theft that was multi-agency police chase Monday morning.
The Michigan State Police (MSP) said it started with a theft of autos from an auto plant in Lansing. By the point police had been alerted to the theft, the suspects had been fleeing within the automobiles, which Lansing police recognized as Camaros.

The pursuit received onto the freeway, heading eastbound on I-96 towards Oakland County.
“The stolen autos had separated into two teams consisting of two to 4 automobiles every,” MSP wrote. “Every group was being pursued by a number of businesses.”
These included Michigan State Police from the Brighton, Metro South and Lansing posts, in addition to Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies, Metroparks police, canine items and a helicopter.
“One of many teams crashed on I-96 close to Kensington Street, with suspects fleeing on foot,” MSP wrote. “9 suspects had been taken into custody. The opposite group separated, with some exiting at Grand River Avenue and others on northbound M-5.”
Basic Motors advised Information 10 they’re working with police to get the stolen autos again.
“We’re cooperating with native legislation enforcement to get better stolen autos from GM’s Lansing Grand River Meeting Plant,” GM officers wrote. “We’ll be enhancing our safety on the plant and surrounding parking tons.”
