First Costco Business Center in Michigan to open Jan. 25

Costco announced the grand opening of the first Costco Business Center in Michigan. The grand opening is Thursday, Jan. 25, at 7 a.m. at the former Northland Center shopping mall site in Southfield.

The new warehouse is open to all Costco members, but designed for businesses. It is the 17th Costco location in Michigan.

The new 161,689-square-foot warehouse is located at 21110 Northwestern Hwy. near the intersection of M-10 Lodge Freeway and Eight Mile Road.

“I am excited to be a part of helping grow the local community and bringing jobs to Southfield,” said Todd Smith, general manager of the new Costco Business Center in Southfield.

The product selection at Costco Business Center is tailored for the operation of convenience stores, food service, and offices with products offered in greater quantities, and an expanded selection of beverages, candy, snacks, commercial appliances, tobacco, fresh meat and produce, groceries, and restaurant supplies. The products are also suitable for consumer pantry shelves, lunchboxes and large parties, according to a press release from Costco.

The business center does not have a bakery or pharmacy, and will not sell alcohol, clothing, books or sporting goods.

“The goal of our Costco Business Centers is to provide an expanded selection of high-quality, brand-name products to meet the needs of businesses, at Costco’s low warehouse prices,” said Rob Parker, Senior Vice President of Costco Business Centers.

The Costco Business Center in Southfield will offer next-business-day delivery to most businesses in the metro Detroit area, on orders placed by 3 p.m.

The warehouse hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. It is the 26th Costco Business Center location in the United States.
