BREAKING: Michigan State lands wide receiver commit on eve of Signing Day

Simply hours away from the early signing interval, Michigan State soccer has added to its 2023 recruiting class.

On Tuesday night, three-star Houston (Texas) Klein Cain Excessive College large receiver Jaelen Smith introduced his dedication to the Spartans, selecting MSU over fellow finalists Minnesota and Vanderbilt.

In response to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Smith is ranked No. 695 general and the No. 93 large receiver within the Class of 2023, and the No. 110 participant from the state of Texas. He visited Michigan State again on Dec. 2, and selected the Spartans on the eve of the early Nationwide Signing Day (Dec. 21).

At 6-foot-1 and 185 kilos, Smith has good measurement and a pleasant body for MSU’s energy and conditioning workers to work with as soon as he arrives in East Lansing. Vast receiver coach Courtney Hawkins was the first recruiter for the Spartans on this battle.

Smith gives Michigan State’s offensive teaching workers with a flexible weapon. As a senior, he compiled 695 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 34 receptions as a receiver, including 830 speeding yards and 10 speeding touchdowns as a ball provider. Smith performed some quarterback as nicely, throwing for 452 yards and 4 touchdowns whereas finishing 35-of-70 makes an attempt.

With Smith within the fold, Michigan State’s 2023 recruiting class is as much as 14 commitments and the Spartans’ class is now ranked No. 26 within the nation and No. 4 within the Large Ten Convention. Of the 14 dedicated prospects in MSU’s 2023 class, eight are listed as four-stars. That is one shy of this system report within the 247Sports period of recruiting (since 2000).
