Students from the Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine giving back to League 42
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH)—Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine students and staff held a health fair on Saturday at the League 42 grounds in north Wichita. The event offered services to all 600 League 42 athletes and their families as part of a National Day of Service for Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine.
Four booths focused on building essential skills and knowledge for the players, including CPR training, first aid care, nutrition, dental health, skincare and injury prevention.
Students at the injury prevention booth demonstrated stretches to help players warm up before a game.
Tyler Wilson, a second-year student, organized the event. He says it’s not just about helping the players; it’s a chance for KCOM students to connect with the community.
“You never know what one interaction will be, so even if one kid today takes what we have and says I want to be a doctor, I want to be able to save people, I want to be able to help,” said Wilson. “It’s amazing what one interaction can do.”
