TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Some of Kansas’ longest-serving employees got their time in the limelight Monday.

Gov. Laura Kelly and Administration Secretary Adam Proffitt hosted a recognition ceremony for state employees who’ve given over 40 and 50 years of service to the state. Gov. Kelly said the state doesn’t run without them.

“You are true public servants, and you represent the very best of our state,” Gov. Kelly said. “Your work has catapulted the state forward and has set an example for future generations of Kansans poised to join the public service sector.”

Each employee got a certificate, as well as a handshake and picture with the governor.
