“We’re just here for the concerts to kind of mingle and meet some new people and hopefully come back next year,” said Joyce Morris, one of the many people who are staying at the lake this weekend.

While Joyce and her husband are from the area, organizer of the event CJ Wilson said they’re super excited because they have tickets sold in states across the U.S.

Wilson and her team have been working on this event for a year and they’re so excited to finally see it arrive.

“It was really a labor of love,” said Wilson.

From concerts throughout the night to tons of different activities planned like a corn hole tournament, beach party, and car show, there is no lack of things for people who attend to do.

“This is a time to have fun. Come out and dance under the stars, and we have a dance floor so it really is a large dance party,” exclaimed Wilson.

While the music festival is being held at Lake Afton, the water is off limits. This is due to a dangerous blue green algae warning. However, people at the event said they’re not letting this get them down.

“I think there’s plenty of activities we won’t even notice it,” said Morris.

One person decided she needed to swim but came up with a creative solution to do so safely. Wichita resident Tammy Calhoun brought her own inflatable pool that she’s going to fill up with clean water.

The campgrounds will be busy all weekend with people staying in tents and recreational vehicles in order to be on the frontlines of the party. Cooking and eating under the stars, attendees are all excited for something different.

“I’m trying to get him to enter the dad bod contest,” said Joyce about her husband Derek.

And every person is buzzing with excitement about the concerts.

“I want to hear Yelawolf,” said Calhoun.

The event will be going on all weekend and tickets are still being sold.
