WELLINGTON, Kan. (WIBW) – Kansas Highway Patrol troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday morning on rain-slickened Interstate 35 along the Kansas Turnpike in Sumner County, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 5:40 a.m. Thursday on southbound I-35, about 6 miles northeast of Wellington.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2016 Nissan Altima car was headed south on I-35 when it hydroplaned and hit the concrete barrier wall.

The driver, Connell Silmon Jr., 54, of Wichita, was reported to have suspected minor injuries. There was no report of Silmon, who was alone in the car and wearing his seat belt, required ambulance transportation to the hospital.
