Believe it or not, Kansas State football has never played these FBS teams


Kansas State football has been around for a long time dating back to 1896. With where the Wildcats are located in Manhattan, and no I don’t mean New York, it is no surprise that they have played their fair share of opponents.

It is easy for any team to get to Kansas just like it is easy for Kansas State to travel just about anywhere. They don’t have to cross the entire country, the only thing is how far North or South they have to go. So with how long they have been around and their good location, there are only 40 teams the Wildcats have yet to face in the FBS.

While Kansas State won’t cross any of these teams off the list this season, there is always hope for seasons to come. For right now, here are the teams that Kansas State has yet to face by each conference.

The American Athletic Conference just went through a major change losing three of their biggest and most successful athletic programs in Houston, Cincinnati, and UCF to the Big 12. They are also getting ready to lose SMU to the ACC this next season. However, three of the four teams on this list were already in the AAC before, they just haven’t met up with the Wildcats yet.

USF Bulls: USF is a young program started only in 1997. While Kansas State has played a lot of teams in Florida, USF is one the Wildcats have not gotten on the schedule yet. The Bulls could become a top team in their conference, which may make for an intriguing opponent for the Wildcats.

SMU Mustangs: For a team that is in the same vicinity as most of the Big 12 Conference, it is interesting that the Wildcats have not faced off against SMU. However, with their move to the ACC imminent, it might be a matchup Kansas State could afford on their schedule.

UAB Blazers: UAB joined the FBS in 1996, so like USF, they are also a young program. With the Blazers only just joining the AAC, they need probably a few years under their belt before they get on Kansas State’s schedule in the future.

ECU Pirates: The Pirates have been in the FBS since 1965, but have only been in the AAC since 2015. Distance could be a factor in why the teams have never met, but with Kansas State being in the middle of the country, no school is truly too far away.

Former Kansas high school wrestling coach charged with producing child pornography


WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A former Kansas wrestling coach was charged with creating child sexual abuse materials by secretly recording minors showering during an athletic competition.

According to court documents, 37-year-old Ryan Brungardt of Salina is charged with two counts of production of child pornography and one count of attempted production of child pornography.

Brungardt is a former employee at Lakewood Middle School and former wrestling coach for Salina Central High School.

Brungardt is accused of using a cellphone to record three minors while they showered in a locker room during the Tournament of Champions, a wrestling tournament was held at Newton High in January 2024.

Brungardt made his initial court appearance for the criminal complaint on Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Brooks G. Severson.

A detention hearing is scheduled for Monday

Investigators are in the process of reviewing additional seized cellphone videos in this case that are suspected to have been recorded at wrestling meets in Newton, Hays, Garden City and Salina during the 2023-2024 wrestling season.
