The 2023 Iowa Hawkeyes offense is outpacing the 2022 offense for all the wrong reasons

First off, these glaring numbers tell me this is a scheme and coaching issue. Iowa brought in transfers, namely Cade McNamara, who have had prior success, put up solid numbers, and shown proven ability. Iowa upgraded the QB room, WR room, TE room, and supposedly the offensive line. If they truly upgraded as they said, then this is a coaching issue and a failed scheme to take a step backward offensively across the board compared to a historically poor offense in 2022.

Secondly, I can’t help but wonder what Spencer Petras may have been. If Cade McNamara is stuck looking like this in this scheme, did he ever even have a chance? The scheme is broken. The offensive line coaching isn’t working. Spencer Petras was hung out to dry and never given a chance.
