After a standout performance during Wednesday’s prospect camp in Ames, Iowa State extended an offer to 2025 wide receiver Keynan Cotton out of Omaha.

The kicker for Cotton is that he didn’t even know if he would be at the camp.

“I wasn’t really expecting to get offered,” Cotton said. “I kind of signed up late. I didnt know if I was going to come to the camp, but I’m pretty glad I did.”

Cotton’s parents convinced him to sign up late and come to the camp Wednesday, where he ended up leaving with his first FBS offer.

“It’s pretty unreal – the first one,” Cotton said. “Just trying to get some more. I’m just very excited.”

Aside from Iowa State, Cotton has received interest from Nebraska.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound pass catcher ran a 4.51 40-yard dash at the camp, a number he wants to trim to a 4.4

“I felt like I did pretty good, obviously the coaches thought I did good,” Cotton said. “I thought my route running was good… They said I’m a great player, but can still elevate my game.”
