This 2024 class for Iowa women’s basketball was already looking fantastic. Now, with its latest addition, it has the makings of something truly special.

Five-foot-eight guard Aaliyah Guyton out of Peoria High School in Illinois announced her commitment to the Iowa Hawkeyes. Guyton is rated as the nation’s No. 57 player overall in the 2024 class by ESPN.

After thanking God, her family, her coaches and trainers, Guyton was ready to make the big announcement.

“And without further ado, with all that being said, I would like to finally announce that I will be committing to the University of Iowa,” Guyton said as she turned to reveal her Iowa Hawkeyes t-shirt.

The four-star commit averaged 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists per game during her junior season while leading Peoria to a third-place finish. She also averaged more than 20 points per game as a sophomore. Each of the past two seasons Guyton won conference player of the year honors and was recognized as an all-state selection.

Guyton chose Iowa over a list of fellow finalists that featured Illinois, Nebraska, Michigan State and Pittsburgh.

Guyton joins a 2024 class that features four other commits, including a trio that are also inside ESPN’s top 100 players.
