Iowa Football: Predicting the Hawkeyes in 2023

College football season is within earshot and with it comes all the pent up excitement of waiting for the last eight months. Your Iowa Hawkeyes are just over two weeks away from their first matchup of the season as they kick things off hosting the Utah State Aggies.

As kickoff quickly approaches, we want to know what Hawkeye fans are expecting this season. Iowa finished 2022 with a whimper, ending the regular season at 7-5 with a miserable home loss to Nebraska keeping them out of back-to-back Big Ten Championship Games. While the Hawkeyes came back for a strong showing in the Music City Bowl against Kentucky, Iowa finished the year with an historically bad offense and major question marks entering 2023.

This offseason, the Hawkeyes answered some of those questions through the portal. Iowa inked former Michigan starter Cade McNamara at QB, as well as his former teammate TE Erick All. They gave him some weapons on the outside with the addition of former Ohio State WR Kaleb Brown and Charleston Southern transfer Seth Anderson. They looked to give him more protection up front with the additions of Miami (OH) guard Rusty Feth and Saginaw Valley State OT Daijon Parker. And on defense, Phil Parker looks to fills the void left by Jack Campbell with Virginia LB Nick Jackson.

While our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook expect an improvement this season with the over/under on season wins set at 8, we want to know what you think. Will those additions be enough to help keep the defense elite and make the offense serviceable? Will the Hawkeyes do enough to keep Brian Ferentz’s job? We want to know how the fanbase feels about those questions specifically and the season more generally.
