Officers responded at 1:04 a.m. to the Ped Mall after getting reports of shots being fired. They found shell casings and property damage, but no injuries had been reported.

Police said they believe two men were involved in the shooting. They asked that anyone in the area who has security cameras review their recordings and contact the Iowa City Police Department with any information found about the incident. Police also asked anyone who has information about the shooting to contact Detective Gabe Cook at Cook@iowa-city.org or (319) 356-5275.

The city plans this summer to install 13 cameras around the Ped Mall, which the city says will help law enforcement by giving them access to footage when they are investigating incidents in the area.
