Guatemalan woman sentenced in eastern Iowa for using fraudulent social security card
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Guatemalan woman was sentenced after using a fraudulent social security card to gain employment in the United States.
35-year-old Cindy Santos-Perez, a citizen of Guatemala, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful use of an identification document.
Police say Santos-Perez admitted to using a fake social security card multiple times to secure work authorization in the United States between December 2020 to May 2022.
Court documents say she used a fake social security number as her account number to intentionally mislead in May 2022.
Santos-Perez was sentenced to 109 days in prison and a three-year supervised release following imprisonment.
