Gerald Fay Henderson, 89, of Marion, Iowa, handed away on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at his house in Marion. Visitation shall be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at First Presbyterian Church, positioned at 802 twelfth St., in Marion. Funeral companies will start at 11 a.m. on the church, with Pastor Jim Langley officiating. Burial will instantly comply with at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Murdoch Funeral House & Cremation Service of Marion is aiding the household.

Gerald was born on June 24, 1933, on a farm in Central Metropolis, Iowa, the son of Lloyd Chandler and Winnie Alice (Burnside) Henderson. He attended the Little Purple Faculty, a one-room schoolhouse in Delaware County, Iowa, till finishing his schooling at Coggon Excessive Faculty. Gerald served honorably within the U.S. Military in the course of the Korean battle. On Dec. 22, 1957, Gerald was united in marriage to Judith “Judie” Kay Hamblin on the First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He labored for the Division of Transportation for almost 40 years, portray traces in 14 counties in the course of the summer season and plowing snow within the winter. Gerald beloved watching NASCAR and had a ardour for something with 4 wheels. He beloved washing and waxing all his automobiles, particularly his “third son”, his 1996 Impala SS, which was his delight and pleasure. Gerald loved his many journeys together with his spouse, Judie, and beloved spending time with household and associates. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the place he served as an usher. Gerald shall be drastically missed by all who knew and beloved him.

Gerald is survived and lovingly remembered by his spouse of 65 years, Judie; two sons, Scott (Kathy) Henderson of Glenview, Ailing., and Aric (Kathy) Henderson of Winterset, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Brian Henderson and Michael Henderson, each of Chicago, Ailing., Katie (John) Brungard of Lanoka Harbor, N.J., Kristin Henderson (Kelyn Rickels) of Boone, Iowa, Aaron Henderson of Vinton, Iowa, Amanda (Tony) Luna of Des Moines, Iowa, and Reggie (Nicole) Thomas of Norwalk, Iowa; 4 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Merle Henderson of Coggon, Iowa; two sisters, Garnet Henderson and Marilyn Hejda, each of Cedar Rapids; one sister-in-law, Betty Jo (Earl) Smith or Truckee, Calif.; one brother-in-law, Bob Dighton of Missouri; and a number of other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in demise by his dad and mom; two brothers, Wally and Keith Henderson; and 4 sisters-in-law, Verla Henderson, Donna Henderson, Darlene Baumgartner and Mabel Ann Dighton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could also be directed to a favourite charity of donor’s alternative.
