Former Boone County Deputy Charged in Death of K-9

Boone County, Iowa – At present, 50-year-old Dallas Wingate, a former Boone County Sheriff’s Workplace deputy and Okay-9 handler was charged with the demise of Okay-9 deputy Bear. Wingate, who turned himself in on the Story County Jail, has been charged with one depend of Damage or Interference of a Police Canine Service, a category D felony. 
 
On September 2, 2022, the Boone County Sheriff’s Workplace requested DCI examine after Bear was discovered lifeless inside Wingate’s Okay-9-equipped police car. The investigation confirmed that Wingate positioned Bear inside his enclosed car on the night of September 1. Almost twenty-two hours later, Wingate opened the car for the primary time.     
 
The Story County Lawyer’s Workplace will prosecute this case.
Notice: A felony cost is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed harmless till confirmed responsible.
