Cyclones cancel hoops games due to storm threat
AMES, Iowa — Iowa State canceled a males’s basketball sport Wednesday and girls’s basketball sport Thursday due to the potential for extreme climate.
The athletic division introduced Tuesday that the lads’s sport towards Omaha and the ladies’s sport towards Drake is not going to be rescheduled.
“After consulting with each Omaha and Drake, we imagine that canceling each video games at present will afford the student-athletes from all 4 groups the chance to depart forward of the storm and return safely to their houses to spend the vacations with their households,” Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard stated.
Ames is within the path of a winter storm that is anticipated to drop 6-10 inches of snow Wednesday via Friday.
Followers who had bought single-game tickets for both sport can be issued a refund.
The ISU women and men subsequent play Dec. 31. The lads can be house for his or her Huge 12 opener towards Baylor, and the 14th-ranked girls will go to Texas Tech.
