Cubs Roster Moves: Swanson is Back! Young to Iowa – Bleacher Nation
There it is! Dansby Swanson finally returns from his heel contusion after successfully running the bases the last couple days.
Swanson gets right back in there at shortstop today, and my tentative guess is that he might show some rust at the plate without a rehab assignment, but the defense is probably right where it needs to be. Cubs have been missing that, even as Nico Hoerner filled in capably at shortstop and Christopher Morel filled in capably at second base.
Meanwhile, Jared Young, whose playing time had eroded along with his bat, heads back to Triple-A Iowa. Increasingly, the Cubs want Cody Bellinger and Mike Tauchman both in the lineup against righties, and the best way to do that is with Bellinger at first and Tauchman in center. So Young wasn’t going to play much in any case.
