The Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union have released the BEDS Documents for the 2023-24 school year. The file is used to classify schools for postseason tournaments.

Numbers are based on students in grades 9-11 from the present school year.

The most striking trend is the sharp recent rise in Alburnett’s enrollment. Alburnett has jumped by 41 students (26.1 percent) in the last two BEDS totals. Similarly, Lisbon is up 27 students (20.1 percent) in two school years.

On the other side, Belle Plaine has taken an enrollment tumble in two years, losing 31 students (27.2 percent) in the last two years.

Linn-Mar remains the largest school in the area — and fifth in the state — with a BEDS enrollment of 1,713.
