Wickens seeing ‘potential’ for 2024 Indy 500 entry

It has been a protracted course of for Robert Wickens to return to racing, following his near-fatal racing accident suffered in August of 2018.

2022 noticed him again behind the wheel for Bryan Herta Autosport’s Hyundai entry within the IMSA Michelin Pilot Problem.

Now there are plans transferring ahead for Wickens to get into an entry for the 2024 Indianapolis 500.

Wickens posted on Instagram Thursday that “my objective has at all times been to get again to the very prime stage of motorsport.”

Hyundai has been behind the designs of particular hand controls which have allowed the 33-year outdated Wickens to get again to racing. Herta has mentioned that getting these controls primed for an IndyCar are within the works for the Indy entry.

Wickens made a single begin within the Indy 500, profitable Rookie of the 12 months honors in 2018 with a 9th place end whereas driving for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.

He’ll be again behind the wheel in that Hyundai TCR at Daytona this weekend.
