Police shooting investigation on the east side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirms there is a police shooting investigation underway on the city’s east side.
According to IMPD, It happened just before 2 a.m. outside the Bubbaz Bar and Grill in the 10000 block of E Washington Street, near Mitthoefer Road. IMPD says no officers were injured.
According to police on the scene, an off-duty IMPD officer was working in the area when there was a disturbance outside the business. IMPD says that the off-duty officer attempted to defuse the situation and a person fired shots toward the officer. That’s when IMPD says the officer engaged with the suspect and shot them.
IMPD says the suspect was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.
IMPD says a public information officer is on their way to the scene. News 8 will update this story as more information becomes available.
