‘Hoosier hospitality’: Pat McAfee says Indianapolis is the best city to host a Super Bowl

Is Indianapolis the best city to host a Super Bowl?

To former Colts punter Pat McAfee, the answer is simple: absolutely. On Tuesday, McAfee was on ESPN’s First Take, along with Jeff Saturday, the Colts’ interim head coach in 2022.

“The thing about the Indiana and the Indianapolis mindset is there is a Hoosier hospitality,” McAfee said. “It is a hosting city. Normally it’s conventions with all the hotels being connected. The downtown workers understand that a lot of people are coming in from out of town.”

Indianapolis previously hosted the Super Bowl in 2012 when the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots.

“I would love for Indianapolis to host again,” McAfee said. “Indianapolis is a great host city. … Anytime you get an opportunity to host a company’s biggest event, you want to make sure they leave the city thinking to themselves, ‘That was how it needs to be done every single time.’”

The Super Bowl isn’t the only event McAfee wants in Indy. Last October, he appeared at WWE’s Fastlane at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and said the company should bring Wrestlemania back to Indiana.
