Trump, Rubio will attend Indiana-Miami CFP national championship game
IU Football fans watching Peach Bowl tell us what they’d do for a win
Fans in Bloomington told us they’d run marathons, pay all the tuition at IU and more if it meant a championship.
For perhaps the first time in history, a sitting U.S. president will attend an Indiana University football game.
President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are expected to be in the stands on Jan. 19 as the Hoosiers face down the University of Miami Hurricanes in the College Football Championship. The White House confirmed Trump’s attendance, and Axios reported on Jan. 14 that he’ll be joined by Rubio.
An IU victory would mark the first national title in the program’s 139-year history.
Rubio, a Miami alum, will very likely be rooting for the Canes. Last month, he joked that if the team didn’t make the playoffs, Trump should take over the college football tournament.
The president’s pick is unclear, though his granddaughter, Kai Trump, has committed to play golf for Miami this fall.
