Southern Indiana man arrested in Illinois, charged with murder of father
PARIS, Ill. (WISH) — A 24-year-old southern Indiana man has been arrested in Illinois and preliminarily charged with the murder of his father, Indiana State Police say.
Oakland City, Indiana, Police Department found Brad Fiscus, 57, dead in his home in the 300 block of West Dale Street on Thursday afternoon. The Gibson County city of 2,200 residents is about a 45-minute drive north of Evansville.
Fiscus’ 24-year-old son Jonathan, of Oakland City, was incarcerated in the Edgar County jail in Paris, Illinois, on an unrelated incident when an arrest warrant was issued Friday for the murder. Paris is about a 2-hour drive north-northwest of Oakland City.
An autopsy on Brad Fiscus has been scheduled for Saturday, Indiana State Police say.
As of Friday afternoon, police have not revealed how Brad Fiscus died, what may have led to the murder, or whether Jonathan Fiscus acted alone.
Online court records did not show a hearing scheduled yet in Gibson Superior Court. However, the online records also showed an arrest warrant issued for Jonathan G. Fiscus in a November domestic violence case.
The person who answered the phone Friday afternoon at the Edgar County, Illinois, corrections facility said that a jail booking photo for Jonathan Fiscus would not be available until the corrections administrator returns to work at 8 a.m. Monday.
