The college football conference championship games are done so let’s get to what really matters: Where will Indiana football be in the College Football Playoff?

Here is the IndyStar prediction:

College Football Playoff prediction

  1. Oregon: Bye
  2. Georgia: Bye
  3. Boise State: Bye
  4. Arizona State: Bye
  5. Texas
  6. Penn State
  7. Notre Dame
  8. Ohio State
  9. Tennessee
  10. Indiana
  11. Alabama or Clemson
  12. Clemson or SMU

Penn State could finish ahead of Texas since it lost to the No. 1 team. And SMU vs Alabama will be a massive decision by the committee after Clemson’s 34-31 last-second victory. Neither, however, affects what we care about:

Indiana beat Notre Dame 11-5 in their first meeting in 1898 and has been paying for it ever since. The Fighting Irish hold a 23-5-1 edge in the series, winning the last meeting in 1991, 49-27. The teams hadn’t played since 1958 prior to that game with IU’s last win in 1950.
