Predicting who Indiana football will play in the College Football Playoff
The college football conference championship games are done so let’s get to what really matters: Where will Indiana football be in the College Football Playoff?
Here is the IndyStar prediction:
College Football Playoff prediction
- Oregon: Bye
- Georgia: Bye
- Boise State: Bye
- Arizona State: Bye
- Texas
- Penn State
- Notre Dame
- Ohio State
- Tennessee
- Indiana
- Alabama or Clemson
- Clemson or SMU
Penn State could finish ahead of Texas since it lost to the No. 1 team. And SMU vs Alabama will be a massive decision by the committee after Clemson’s 34-31 last-second victory. Neither, however, affects what we care about:
Indiana at Notre Dame in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
Indiana beat Notre Dame 11-5 in their first meeting in 1898 and has been paying for it ever since. The Fighting Irish hold a 23-5-1 edge in the series, winning the last meeting in 1991, 49-27. The teams hadn’t played since 1958 prior to that game with IU’s last win in 1950.
