Indiana’s Kel’el Ware participating in Nike Skills Academy this week in Portland, Oregon
Indiana sophomore center Kel’el Ware is among 16 college players listed on the roster for this week’s Nike Skills Academy in Portland, Oregon. The event is taking place on the Nike campus and runs from August 7-12.
The 7-foot big man is the only player from an Adidas-sponsored school listed on the roster, which was released this morning.
Iowa’s Patrick McCaffery is also listed as a participant.
The event also includes a high school roster, which includes Liam McNeeley, Boogie Fland and Dylan Harper.
According to Jonathan Givony, NBA personnel are permitted to attend the academy. There is a limit of two representatives from each team per session.
The academy will provide “the opportunity to train alongside some of the best past and present NBA players and coaches. The prestigious skills development camp features the nation’s top collegiate players, which includes a combine experience, drills, off-court workouts, film sessions and competition.”
Ware was officially announced as an addition to Indiana’s roster for next season in early April after transferring from Oregon.
“Kel’el is an extremely gifted player who will bring a lot to our program,” Mike Woodson said in the spring. “He is a tremendous athlete whose skill level in all facets of the game will make us better. He’s a rim protector with great size and length, he runs the floor so well, he can shoot and he’s someone who competed and won at a high level in high school. We welcome he and his family to Bloomington and to Hoosier Nation.”
Ware averaged 6.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game last season and led Oregon in blocked shots with 45.
