Indiana State Police trooper killed during pursuit

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indiana State Police trooper is dead following a crash in Marion County.

The crash happened on Ronald Reagan Parkway near Interstate 70.

This all started when troopers found a stolen car in Indianapolis. They attempted to stop the suspect, which lead to a pursuit.

Indiana State Police trooper Aaron Smith then attempted to deploy stop sticks to end the pursuit on Ronald Reagan Parkway.

Smith was then struck by the suspect’s vehicle around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The suspect then crashed nearby.

Those inside of the suspect’s vehicle were taken to the hospital in unknown conditions.

Smith was taken to Eskenazi Hospital where he later died.
