BLOOMINGTON — The Indiana football team announced plans on Thursday night to bring back an intrasquad spring scrimmage for the first time since 2019.

The exhibition will be on Thursday, April 18 at 8 p.m. with players beginning warmups inside Memorial Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

Indiana plans to open its first camp under new coach Curt Cignetti after the university’s spring break from March 10-17. The NCAA allows for teams to complete spring practices in a 34-day window with 20 hours per week of unrestricted activities.

More details will be announced at a later date.

Indiana’s last spring game was in 2019 with Peyton Ramsey taking most of the snaps at quarterback. The program hasn’t held a traditional spring game since COVID-19 wiped out much of the team’s 2020 camp. The Hoosiers allow fans to attend the 15th and final spring practice last season that included an on-field meet-and-greet for fans.

There will be plenty of intrigue over the spring game this year as Cignetti has overhauled the roster since taking over. Indiana will have close to 40 new faces on the roster this fall with many of the transfers the team signed enrolling at midyear.
