The Indiana Hoosiers welcome Florida Gulf Coast Eagles to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall Tuesday. Tip is set for 6:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Florida Gulf Coast vs. Indiana odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Mike Woodson has a lofty challenge to build a championship contender this season at Indiana. F Trayce Jackson-Davis, who averaged 20.9 points per game last season, went to the NBA. The Hoosiers did add 5-star freshman F Mackenzie Mgbako, who was the 10th-best recruit in the nation, along with a pair of 4-star talents. Indiana was 16-18-1 against the spread (ATS) last season.

Flordia Gulf Coast was 12-19 ATS and 17-15 straight up last season. The Eagles brought in just 1 top recruit, 3-star guard Rahmir Barno from Imhotep Institute. G Isaiah Thompson, who led the team in scoring last season with 14.9 points per game, will be back.

Florida Gulf Coast at Indiana picks and predictions

Prediction

Indiana 74, Florida Gulf Coast 59

Moneyline

PASS.

Indiana is the far better side, but at -1050, it has no value here. FGCU didn’t add much to its roster over the summer and should again struggle, making the +660 also poor value.

Avoid a moneyline play.

Against the spread

BET INDIANA -12.5 (-120).

The Hoosiers have a solid incoming freshman class and should bode well in a home game to open the season. Indiana made Bloomington a fortress last season and was 10-7 ATS at home.

Mgbako, along with many players returning in the backcourt, should help reduce the impact of Jackson-Davis’ loss. FGCU was just 5-10 ATS on the road last season, so this isn’t a position it performed well in.

Considering the trends last season and the Hoosiers’ ability to restack their roster this offseason, take INDIANA -12.5 (-120).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 143.5 (-105).

Indiana hasn’t shown much offensively in its exhibition games. It should have a thriving offense but scored just 74 against Indianapolis. The Hoosiers did get 94 against Marian to close its series of exhibition games, but against a side with more athleticism, seeing consistency would be nice. They have to fill large scoring holes left by Jackson-Davis, and that teamwork may be difficult to find against another Division 1 opponent.

For FGCU, it has a similar roster and was 14-17 O/U. Against a team that has more size, especially in the backcourt, the Eagles may struggle to get easy buckets around the rim. Back UNDER 143.5 (-105).
