Tree falls on power lines, knocks out electricity to hundreds of Ameren customers in East Peoria

EAST PEORIA (25News Now) – Ameren Illinois reports almost 900 of its customers are without electricity in East Peoria after a large tree branch fell on top of power lines in the southbound lanes of Springfield Road.

At its peak, about 1,200 customers in that area were without power. The utility’s outage map said lights went out at 8:47 p.m. Friday. Ameren is now saying power will be restored about 2:30 a.m.

The Ameren map said there are scattered outages elsewhere, including about 145 customers without electricity in the Carlock area.

The National Weather Service reported a 60-mph wind gust in Normal about 9:30 p.m.
