Remains of World War II airman from Illinois finally ID’d thanks to new technology

SPRINGFIELD, Ailing. (WLS) — The stays of a World Struggle II airman from Illinois have lastly been accounted for.

Harold Kretzer, a 32-year previous Odin man in downstate Marion County, was a U.S. Military Air Forces tech.

In the summertime of 1943, he was on board a bomber that was hit by enemy fireplace and crashed in Romania.

He was buried there as an unknown hero, however new expertise has allowed his stays to be recognized. He can be re-buried in Springfield.
