Remains found in central Illinois storage unit identified as former Maquon village police chief
GALESBURG, In poor health. — Human stays present in a west central Illinois storage unit have been recognized as these of a former police chief.
The stays found final fall are these of Richard R. Younger, 71, the previous Maquon village police chief, the Knox County Sheriff’s Workplace stated in a information launch.
The sheriff’s workplace acquired affirmation of the id Tuesday after taking DNA from the decomposed stays and evaluating it to samples from Younger’s family members.
The stays have been discovered Oct. 7, 2022, at Roberts Self Storage in Maquon after Knox County deputies responded to a criticism about an odor coming from the storage unit.
It is not clear how Younger died.
Marcy Oglesby, 50, of Maquon has been charged with first-degree homicide and concealing the demise of an individual within the case. She has pleaded not responsible. Oglesby stays in custody on the Knox County Jail.
Maquon is about 150 miles (241 kilometers) southwest of Chicago.
