Reagan Bass, Akron Zips rally past Northern Illinois in MAC women’s basketball
Reagan Bass had her 11th double-double of the season and the University of Akron rallied for a 61-59 victory over Northern Illinois in Mid-American Conference women’s basketball Saturday afternoon in Dekalb, Ill.
The Zips (7-11, 2-6) trailed 19-13 at the end of the first quarter and 28-26 at halftime before a 26-14 third quarter gave them a 52-42 lead entering the final 10 minutes. The Huskies tied the score at 59-59 with two free throws with 52 seconds to play, but Bass’ layup with 39 seconds left proved to be the game-winner.
A junior forward from Strongsville, Bass finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds. She shot 6 of 8 from the floor, including 2 of 3 on 3-pointers. Morgan Haney added 10 points.
Brooke Stonebraker scored a game-high 20 points for Northern Illinois (9-10, 3-5).
