'Potentially Dangerous' Storms Expected Tuesday Night In IL
ILLINOIS — “Potentially dangerous severe thunderstorms” are possible Tuesday evening into the early overnight hours for the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.
The highest severe weather risk is between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m., so the weather service advises having multiple ways to receive weather warnings and make sure they can wake you.
The highest tornado threat is in northwest Illinois, but the Chicago area is still in a 3 out 5 risk for severe weather, according to the weather service.
The storms could produce numerous tornadoes, and destructive winds greater than 75 mph.
The high for Tuesday is 91 degrees, and “unseasonably warm, humid and breezy conditions today will give way to the threat of severe thunderstorms tonight,” the weather service said on its Facebook.
