What to know: Iowa’s regular-season finale is a tough one, against the team that beat the Hawkeyes 95-85 in Champaign on Feb. 24. That is the Hawkeyes’ only loss in their last five games.

Coleman Hawkins, a 6-foot-10 senior forward, scored a career-high 30 points for Illinois in that game. He became the third Illini player to get 30 in a game thiis season (Terrence Shannon, Marcus Domask).

A victory would give Iowa a winning Big Ten record for the fifth-straight year. Illinois is the winningest team in Big Ten play since the 2019-20 season.

Sophomore guard Josh Dix began his current streak of three-straight 20-point games with 20 that day in State Farm Center. Dix shot 68.4 percent from the field over those three games, and made 8 of 13 three-pointers.

After an 8-game stretch of subpar 3-point shooting, Iowa is 18-for-36 (50 percent) over its last two contests.

Iowa leads the Big Ten with 80.9 free throw shooting in conference play. Payton Sandfort, the reigning conference Player of the Week, has made his last 21 foul shots and leads the league in free throw percentage at .915.

Sandfort averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists in Iowa’s last two games, wins over Penn State and Northwestern.

In Iowa’s 87-80 March 2 win over Northwestern, Iowa senior guard Tony Perkins became the first player in program history to have at least 14 assists in two different games.

Illinois is coming off a 77-71 home loss against No. 3 Purdue Tuesday. The Illini led by six points at halftime.
