Missing Person Search And Rescue Team Training In Tinley Park Tuesday

TINLEY PARK, IL — Presence of a search and rescue team in Tinley Park on Tuesday is only a drill, Village officials said.

The Tinley Park Fire Department will be participating in mutual aid training on Tuesday, July 9 at Station 49, 7801 W. 191st Street. The Search & Rescue Strike Team will be using the fire station and will be in the surrounding residential area from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Signs will be posted.

The search and rescue team is made up of fire departments across Northern Illinois that specialize in locating missing people. The team utilizes drones, K-9s and an ATV in the field when searching for a missing person. The team trains twice a month to ensure members are regularly practicing their skills, officials said.

Hawthorn Woods Aqua Illinois customers under boil order after water main repair

Aqua Illinois has issued a 24-hour boil order for residents in Hawthorn Woods, Kildeer, and parts of Lake County following a water main repair.

While water service was not interrupted during the repair, the break impacted the water tower’s recharging process, prompting the precautionary measure, Aqua Illinois said in a letter to customers Sunday morning.

The water main break was successfully repaired, but as a precaution, customers were advised to boil their water before using it for drinking, cooking, or other consumption purposes.

The boil order will remain in effect until water testing is complete and deemed safe. Aqua Illinois is currently collecting samples and will notify customers directly through their WaterSmart Alert system when the order is lifted.

During the boil order, residents are advised to:

  • Let the boiled water cool before using it.
  • Use bottled water as an alternative if boiling is not possible.

Illinois just offered 2028 prospect — before he plays a high school game

I’m trying to do a lot of research here on his birthday, because I want to know if he’s potentially the first prospect born in the 2010s to receive an offer from Illinois.

No luck finding a b-day.

Anywho, Illinois reportedly offered 6-foot-6 prospect Cole Kelly on Saturday — before he even plays a high school game.

The class of 2028 wing will be a freshman at Neuqua Valley in Naperville this fall.

In a post on X, Kelly said it is his first Division I offer.

There’s not much notable here. Who knows what Illinois’ roster — or the state of college sports — will look like by the time Kelly enters college in 2028?

But it does make me — a 27-year-old — feel VERY old when we’re suddenly talking Class of 2028, and prospects potentially born in the 2010s, a decade I have fond memories of, many of which came in Champaign-Urbana.

Enjoy your weekend! Try not to feel old!
