SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WIFR) – State lawmakers in Illinois prepare to return to Springfield Tuesday.

Priorities for those lawmakers include measures that impact taxpayers as well as the ongoing migrant crisis that is expected to take center stage.

38th District Senator Sue Rezin says she has several resolutions in mind to protect children on the internet including a package of legislation that addresses algorithms she says intentionally target minors and create mental health issues.

“We’re seeing a huge increase in mental health problems in our schools and in our families,” Rezin said. “As a legislator, we deal with the budget all of the time, and everyone’s coming to us asking for additional funding for mental health services, which I agree, we should be increasing the funding, but we have to go to the root cause of the problem.”
