Illinois’ Isaiah Williams signs with Lions as undrafted free agent
Congrats, IW!
Despite not getting picked in this year’s NFL Draft, Isaiah Willams inked an undrafted free agent deal Saturday night with the reigning NFC North champion Lions.
Williams is coming off an All-Big Ten First Team season where he led the conference in receptions with 82. His 1,055 receiving yards was second in the conference, directly finishing behind the ___ overall pick Marvin Harrison Jr.
His most notable performance of this last season was the 200-yard, two-touchdown game in the thrilling overtime victory against Indiana. Additionally, he went over 100 receiving yards in four other games.
The St. Louis native has been with the Illinois program since 2019, and has played in every games the last three seasons — including the 2023 ReliaQuest Bowl.
Originally committed to the Illini as a quarterback, Williams became known as the top receiver in Illinois’ offense and was used in a multitude of ways by offensive coordinator Barry Lunney Jr.
Williams should fit very well in the offense of the Lions.
