Illinois basketball gets a commitment from IHSA state champion guard
Illinois basketball picked up an in-state commitment on Wednesday night.
Lisle Benet Academy senior guard Blake Fagbemi announced social media that he will continue his playing career with the Fighting Illini.
The 6-foot-1 point guard averaged 12.6 points, 6.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds in helping guide the Redwings to the Illinois High School Association Class 4A state championship this past March. He scored 14 points with six assists and four rebounds as Benet beat Gurnee Warren, 55-54.
“Staying Home,” Fagbemi posted, becoming the fourth class of 2025 commit for the Illini.
Illinois has 14 players on its 2025-26 roster, including incoming freshman David Mirkovic, Brandon Lee and Keaton Wagler.
