Illinois Amber Alert system marks 20 years; more than 1,100 children saved nationwide

A milestone anniversary, because it has been 20 years for the reason that first Amber Alert was broadcast in Illinois.

Because the messages started, the Illinois Amber Alert system has helped get better 67 kidnapped or lacking youngsters and not directly discovered 22 extra.

The Amber Alert system is known as after 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped and later discovered murdered in 1996 in Texas.

Illinois’ first message was in 2002, out of La Salle.

The alert system is a cooperation between a number of entities that vary from police to press, to transportation and the Nationwide Climate Service.

Nationally, this system, now accessible in all 50 states, has saved greater than 1,100 youngsters.
