Former Notre Dame safety Houston Griffith is officially hanging up his cleats and will move over to the other side, the coaching side.
The Illinois native, who was a 4-star prospect coming out of high school, played five seasons for the Irish, totaling 104 tackles during his career, with 3 passes broken up. Griffith didn’t quite live up to his billing and get an opportunity to play at the next level wasn’t presented, but his football journey will continue as he has joined the Fighting Illini staff.
Griffin will not follow in his father’s footsteps, Howard, and go into broadcasting. He will start as a recruiting assistant on Brett Bielema’s staff.
Welcome to the #famILLy, @CoachGriffith3!

We wish Houston the best, although not as much when the Illini and Irish are going after the same prospect.
